This afternoon as I walked about my neighborhood the light was just so lovely, and there was food growing everywhere. In my little corner of the city, we’ve got walnuts, hazelnuts, pears, peaches, four kinds of plums (that I’ve spotted so far), apples, figs and berries, berries, berries. And that’s not even counting the scores of planted gardens. Last year it was the farmer’s markets the struck me as the best part of the season. This time around, I hardly have to leave my porch.
